The decision to allow students to attend the meeting has been taken to provide them a better understanding of the administrative work.

Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s administrative review meeting on Friday will for the first time have college students among the audience. Around 50 students of Rabindra Bharati University has been invited to attend the meeting.

The decision to allow students to attend the meeting has been taken to provide them a better understanding of the administrative work. The idea of allowing students was floated at the last meeting in Nadia.

The vice-chancellor of a university had then suggested that if students could be allowed in the meeting then they would write about the development work of the government as well as post pictures on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Ms Banerjee had welcomed the suggestion and urged her officials to take up the initiative of including students in the meeting. Students of higher classes and college students have been part of the proceedings of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly but students at an administrative meeting is unheard of.
