Mukul Roy vows to make Mamata quit CM's post

Kolkata: BJP leader Mukul Roy on Friday vowed to oust Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee from the chief minister’s post. According to him, Ms Banerjee had a meteoric rise with the support of the Congress, but she deserted it. Mr Roy was addressing a panchayat election campaign rally at Gopiballavpur in Jhargram.

Referring to Ms Banerjee, he said, “I challenge you to stay on the ground. Let us face the battle. Name a pet dog after me if I cannot make her resign from the chief minister’s post after the Panchayat and Lok Sabha polls.”

He alleged, “We wanted to drive out thieves from West Bengal, but dacoits replaced them. The Trinamul does not dread the CPI (M) or Congress. It is afraid of the BJP. Ms Banerjee is now angry with me.”

Lashing out at the Trinamul chief, Mr Roy claimed, “She has called me a traitor. She also became minister and MLA, courtesy the Congress. Why did she desert the Congress? Were not you a traitor then? She also calls me a thief. I will quit politics if she can prove my lack of transparency anywhere. If I can prove her lack of transparency then she should quit the chief minister’s post.”
