Kolkata: Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday lashed out at the Centre in the wake of the killing of Amarnath Yatris and claimed that it has failed to provide protection to the pilgrims.

“I feel bad about the Amarnath Yatra. Pilgrims are being shot; this Central government is not being able to protect the people. It just knows to throw people in the mouth of danger. It is a failure in all respects. Today, the country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, is on fire because of them. They are also responsible for the flare up of violence in Darjeeling,” Ms Banerjee said at the inauguration and stone-laying ceremony of a cluster of projects in Digha.
