Youth found dead near Tangra bridge

Multiple injuries found on the chest and stomach suggested that he was hacked to death by his assailant.

Kolkata: A youth was murdered near the railway bridge in Tangra early on Sunday. The victim Ishtiaque Hussain, alias Sunny, in his late twenties, was found lying dead in a pool of blood on Gobinda Khatik Road.

Multiple injuries found on the chest and stomach suggested that he was hacked to death by his assailant.

The body was sent for post-mortem at Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital.

A case was initiated at the government railway police (GRP) station in Sealdah. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ishtiaque was last seen with his friend: Abhishek near the railway tracks.

Both were consuming liquor, sources claimed adding that the duo got into a verbal duel in an inebriated state later. Abhishek took out a knife and hacked Ishtiaque to death with it.

Abhishek has been arrested by the Sealdah GRP personnel. The knife was recovered also.
