Man arrested for trying to rape model-girlfriend
Mumbai: The boyfriend of a model has been arrested by Oshiwara police after she complained that he allegedly raped her in a fit of anger.
The accused, Rakshit Anand (28), a casting director with an Andheri-based modelling agency, was allegedly incensed by the fact that his model-girlfriend posed for a selfie with his friend during a party last Sunday. Enraged, Anand shut her inside a room to target her. Two of his friends who were present broke open the room to rescue her.
Anand told his girlfriend not to tell anyone but she went ahead and lodged a police complaint on Thursday. The police said that Anand met the girl through a common friend, and the two got into a relationship last year. On October 8, the girl attended a friend’s party at Oshiwara where Anand and two of his friends were present. After a few drinks, Anand went to the washroom and on his return, saw his girlfriend clicking selfies with one of his friends. One of the pictures had one of his friends putting his arm on the woman’s shoulder which angered him. In a fit of rage, he dragged the complainant into the bedroom and tried to rape her. The accused’s friends started banging on the door of the bedroom to stop him but when their efforts did not meet with any success they broke open the door and rescued the complainant.
Confirming the incident, Subhash Khanvilkar, senior police inspector, Oshiwara police station said, “We have arrested the accused for attempt to rape and are interrogating him. According to the complainant, he also threatened to post some private pictures, which delayed registration of the complaint. Investigation is underway.”
