Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday claimed of misrepresentation of facts by a certain section of the media about her government to the Centre’s recent direction on the Independence Day celebrations at the schools in West Bengal.

She made it clear that all have the total liberty to celebrate the I-Day in their own way in the state. In a tweet she said, “Some BJP-cornered media misrepresenting facts. Don’t mislead. In Bengal each one has the full freedom to celebrate 70 years of our freedom.”

Ms Banerjee added, “All schools in #Bengal ARE celebrating  #IndependenceDay as per their choice. In their own special way” Her reaction came after the Centre expressed its disappointment over the West Bengal government’s stand of allegedly desisting the schools from following the Centre’s circular to create ‘patriotic mood’ to celebrate the I-Day.
