TMC MP visits parliamentarian Tapal Pal in jail
Kolkata: Senior Trinamul Congress MP Subrata Bakshi visited his fellow parliamentarian of the party Tapal Pal in a jail in Bhubaneswar. Mr Pal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Rose Valley chit fund scam. He is now lodged in the judicial custody. According to sources, Mr Bakshi had also given him some puja gifts. Party insders revealed that his visit was aimed at sending a message of support to Mr Pal who felt dejected after his fellow Trinamul MP Sudip Bandopadhyay was granted bail in May this year.
Meanwhile the CBI questionned the two police officers in the Saradha chit fund scam to trace some missing items including a pen drive and some documents. One of them is Mr Shankar Chakraborty while the other is Mr Dilip Hazra, according to sources.
Both were associated in the probe of the chit fund scam before the case was handed over to the CBI. Mr Chakraborty is now posted as the deputy superintendent of police at the criminal investigation department. He was earlier posted as the inspector when the case was being investigated by the state police.
