Roy gives voice sample to CBI for investigation

According to CBI sources, the delay in collection of voice samples has posed a major challenge in the progress in the case.

Kolkata: Former Trinamul Congress leader Mukul Roy reportedly lent a sample of his voice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for forensic examination in the Narada sting operation case. His voice was recorded few days ago, sources claimed adding that among the 12 accused, the voice of only five of them have been collected.

Mr Roy, when he was in the Trinamul Congress as a Rajya Sabha MP before switching to the BJP, was allegedly sho-wn in a sting conducted by Narada CEO Mathew Samuel alleging acceptance of cash by the dozen Trinamul leaders for favour ahead ot the last Assembly Elections in the state.

The CBI earlier tried to collect his voice sample but failed, sources add-ed. It is now trying to collect the voice samples of other accused in the case to match them with those in the sting foot-ages.

According to CBI sources, the delay in collection of voice samples has posed a major challenge in the progress in the case.

In April last year the anti corruption branch of the CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused under sections 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) in the Indi-an Penal Code.
