CM Mamata Banerjee happy with TDP's decision to quit NDA
Kolkata: Welcoming the TDP’s exit from the BJP-led NDA government chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday described the decision as “greater cause” and “correct for the nation.”
She also renewed her call for an opposition-alliance against BJP.
She has been keeping in touch with many regional party leaders to form a united front against the BJP before the Lok Sabha polls next year.
Ms Banerjee tweeted, “I welcome TDP decision to leave NDA. The current situation warrants such action to save the country from disaster. I appeal to all political parties in the Opposition to work closely together against atrocities, economic calamity and political instability.”
Asked about her support to the TDP’ move the TMC supremo said in Siliguri, “I welcomed it because I know TDP friends very well. We worked together also earlier. Every state have its own problem. They have their own issues. So TDP also have their own issues. They went with the NDA.”
Ms Banerjee reasoned, “Now they have left the NDA for a greater cause. Whatever is going on in our country nowadays specially from economic point of view due to demonetisation and GST, the disaster is going on. The political stability is also not there. There are some problems. So I think whatever the TDP has decided is correct for the nation.”
The Trinamul chief directed her party leaders and MPs in New Delhi to work closely with other regional parties. apart from highlighting the issues against the BJP.
