No political agenda in CM's visit to Odisha, says Partha Chatterjee
Kolkata: The chief minister’s sole objective in visiting Odisha was solely to visit the ailing TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay and she did not have any political agenda, said TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee on Sunday.
“I want to make it clear that our chairperson will not hold any rally or political programme in Odisha. She is going there to meet our MP Sudip Bandopadhyay at the hospital. She has been busy with various government programmes in the districts. Finally she has managed to get some time,” Mr. Chatterjee said. Mr Bandopadhyay had been arrested by the CBI in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam. he is ill and undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital.
Mr. Chatterjee, along with the party’s All India general secretary Subrata Bakshi, had gone to visit ailing Mr Bandopadhayay at Bhubaneshwar recently when the later expressed his desire to meet Ms Banerjee.
Mr Bandopadhyay, who was arrested on January 3, complained of chest pain and on January 12, was admitted at the hospital of Jharpada special correctional home. Later he was shifted to a government hospital.
