Kolkata: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly’s car came under attack allegedly by the Trinamul Congress in North Bengal. It was vandalised. One of Ms Ganguly’s security guards was injured while she escaped unhurt however. The ruling party however denied her claim.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon. The BJP MP was travelling in her car through Uttar Majhgram in Kranti of Jalpaiguri from an election campaign of party candidate of Jalpaiguri: Jayanta Roy.

“I took Kranti route because it was short cut. Moreover I knew that our party workers were here because our party office is located nearby. I had told them I would meet them once since they were threatened by TMC  recently. So when all the people were seeing me, the Trinamul workers became so angry that they started smashing the windshield of my car,” she alleged.

Referring to para-military forces jawans escorting her as part of her security cover she added,   “They do not require any permission. Just imagine what would their condition had they fired only two rounds. Should we show off our power....”
