Mamata Banerjee to give job letters to slain 5 workers

The meeting venue has been chosen in view of its proximity to Bahal Nagar village from where the slain labourers had migrated to the valley for work.

Sagardighi: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will chair an administrative meeting on November 20 at Dhumarpahar ground in Sagardighi of Murshidabad, where she is likely to hand over the job appointment letters to a family member of each of the five labourers killed in the shooting by the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, last month. She may declare an economic package for the migrated workers also.

The meeting venue has been chosen in view of its proximity to Bahal Nagar village from where the slain labourers had migrated to the valley for work. Trinamul MLA of Sagardighi Subrata Saha said, “The CM already donated '5 lakhs as compensation for the family of each slain labourers. We hope she will formally hand over the job appointment letters for them.”

He added, “Apart from this, she might declare economic package for labourers. The Central government has done nothing after the killings. But, the CM has compassion for them and their families. The people should know characters of the Central and state governments. So, the CM rightly selected the meeting venue.”

Mr Saha added that Ms Banerjee is expected to announce 300 projects at the meeting also. The Trinamul supremo will hold an administrative review meeting at Berhampore Rabindra Sadan later. Sources revealed that the bifurcation of Murshidabad into Murshidabad (North) and Murshidabad (South) districts may come up for discussion.
