Woman raped by aged neighbour
The victim, a 27-year-old woman, was alone at a house with her mother, in her sixties, as tenants.
Kolkata: A young woman was allegedly raped by her aged neighbour under threat in Entally.
Gurupada Poddar, the accused in his fifties, was arrested by the police.
The incident took place at Motijheel Lane on Saturday. The victim, a 27-year-old woman, was alone at a house with her mother, in her sixties, as tenants.
Her mother who runs the family by working as a domestic help was away for work. Gurupada entered their home and raped the young woman after threatening to kill her mother, according to preliminary investigation.
At night when the victim’s mother returned home, she narrated the ordeal to her. With the help of locals she lodged a complaint with the Entally police station.
The victim underwent medical test at Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital. Gurupada was later arrested by the police. He was produced at the Sealdah Court which has remanded him in the judicial custody.
