Kolkata: Days after being forced to apologise for his personal remarks targetting Mamata Banerjee, BJP state chief Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday yet again sharpened attacks on the chief minister, saying she is “hiding black money under her white clothes”.

“Ms Banerjee is not with (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji. She is with the black money. Day by day, she is revealing her true face. She wears white clothes and hides all black money with their help. The day will soon come when she will have to apologise to the people for this,” Mr Ghosh said while addressing BJP workers in Balurghat in South Dinajpur district, where the party’s state unit observed ‘Save Democracy Day’ through rallies and protest movements across the state.

Mr Ghosh further alleged that Ms Banerjee was shouting the loudest because all her party’s black money turned into useless papers due to the demonetisation drive.

“She is worried because her party will no longer be using the black money to win the future elections in West Bengal,” he said.

He also said he did not see any reason why there cannot be raids by Income-Tax officials at the CM's residence if there is ground for such exercise, similar to that at the home of Tamil Nadu chief secretary P Rama Mohana Rao in Chennai.

Reacting sharply, TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee said, “BJP leaders are competing among themselves as to who can speak in the filthiest language. In BJP, all leaders are same and people cannot expect anything better from them.”
