Narada case: Minister quizzed by CBI for 5 hrs
Kolkata: Trinamul Congress minister Shubhendu Adhikari was questionned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday for around five hours in connection with the Narada sting operation case. He was recently questionned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the same case. Mr Adhikari was earlier summonned by the CBI on September 18.
However, he was unable to appear on that day. On Friday morning the state transport minister visited the CBI’s anti corruption branch office and faced the investigators’ grilling. He was allowed to go after his statement was recorded.
Mr Adhikari is among the dozen Trinamul leaders including MPs and MLAs who have been booked in the case by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate after they were allegedly caught taking cash during the sting operation.
Mr Adhikari was however a Trinamul Lok Sabha MP when he was seen in the sting footage. According to sources, the CBI may file its preliminary report about the status of its probe in the case at the Calcutta high court after the Durga Puja.
