TMC won't let Hindus have their festivals, says Kailash Vijayvargiya

Vijayvargiya said at a BJP procession protesting alleged atrocities on Hindus by the police in Bengal at Suri in Birbhum.

Kolkata: A day before BJP president Amit Shah kicks off his Bengal tour, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the government was “preventing” Hindus from observing their religious festivals such as the “Ram Navami”, while allowing Muslims to celebrate theirs.

He declared that his party would remove the TMC from being in power in Bengal, adding that people in the state were “disenchanted” with the TMC. “The TMC government is pursuing the politics of ‘minority appeasement’. Hindus here are prevented from observing their religious festivals such as the Ram Navami. However, arms are allowed in Muharram processions without valid permissions. We will remove the TMC government if it does not stop its appeasement policy,” Mr Vijayvargiya said at a BJP procession protesting alleged atrocities on Hindus by the police in Bengal at Suri in Birbhum.

He said, “If Muslims are allowed to observe Id and Muharram, Hindus should also be allowed to celebrate their festivals. Police should not resort to lathicharge on Ram Navami processions,” he added. The BJP leader also said that the chief minister Mamata Banerjee should ask the ministers in her Cabinet, who were seen accepting bribes in the Narada footage, to resign.

“She should ask the ministers against whom the CBI has registered an FIR, to resign,” he said. The CBI on April 17, had initiated an FIR against 12 top Trinamul Congress (TMC) leaders in connection with the Narada case.

He further claimed that many TMC, Congress and CPI(M) leaders in Bengal wanted to join the BJP. “Corruption is rampant everywhere in Bengal and we will not take those who are involved in Narada and Saradha chit fund scams,”.he added.

TMC leader and state urban development minister Firhad Hakim said, “Let them come. They are our guests. They will stay here for two to three days but Mamata Banerjee will continue to remain in the hearts of the people of Bengal,” he said.
