Kolkata: Upset with her party’s poor show in the Lok Sabha election, Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday ordered a major reshuffle in the most of the districts where the BJP candidates won. These districts include Jhargram in the Jangalmahal belt, North and South Dinajpur and Malda in North Bengal. In many of them, the Trinamul candidates who lost in the LS polls were given top posts in the party organisation at the district level.

After chairing the emergency review meeting with the Trinamul candidates, both winners and losers, at her residence on Harish Chatterjee Street in Kalighat, Ms Banerjee said, “We have changed our district president in Jhargram. Birbaha Soren Tudu fought well. He has been given the post. In South Dinajpur, Arpita Ghosh has been made the district presidents. In North Dinajpur Kanhaiyalal, Agarwal who lost was made the district president.”

“In Hooghly Ratna De Nag a very good candidate has been made chairman. Along with her three convenors have been made. They are Dilip Yadav Asima Patra and Prabir Ghoshal. We have divided Bankura into two subdivisions. While Subhasish Batabyal has been appointed as the district president, Shyamal Santra has been made the president of the Bishnupur parliamentary constituency,” she added.

In Murshidabad, Subrata Saha was appointed as the district chairman while MP Abu Taher became the president. Trinamul candidate Bijoy Burman who also lost the election in Jalpaiguri was assigned the charge of Siliguri Jalapaiguri Development Authority. Trinamul minister Goutam Deb who was in charge of the North Bengal Development committee has been replaced by Amar Singh Rai.

“At Ranaghat Shankar Singh has become the president. Krishnanagar has also been divided into two subdivisions. Its parliamentary constituency wise chairman post has been to Mohua Moitra. Jiten Tiwari has been made the chairman of Asansol Lok Sabha seat in Burdwan West. In Malda Mausam Benazir Noor has been made district president while Moazzem Hossain has been appointed as the chairman.”
