Saradha probe: CBI summons 2 police officers

The two cops have been asked to appear at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake next week, according to sources.

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned two police officers of the Bidhanagar North police station under the Bidhannagar City Police to examine their role during the investigation in the Saradha chit fund scam case.

The two cops have been asked to appear at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake next week, according to sources. They had faced questioning by the CBI earlier as well.

The CBI’s move for second round of questioning comes after suspended Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising questions on the style of investigation done by the special team of the Bidhannagar City Police.

In his letter, the copy of which was also forwarded to the Central Vigilance Commission, Mr Ghosh alleged that some key evidence has been destroyed during the probe, sources revealed.

He also demanded a probe into the role of the cops. Incidentally the first complaint in the scam was lodged at the Bidhannagar North police station. Following the Trinamul MP’s letter the PMO sent a letter to the CBI recently to look into the aspect, sources added.
