Missing JU student found in Mecheda
Kolkata: More than three weeks after his disappearance, Jadavpur University student Sushil Mandi was found in Mecheda of East Midnapore on Monday morning. He was rescued from the Mecheda railway station where he had come to meet his friend, whom he had called on Sunday night for a meeting. Sushil had called her at around 10.45 pm.
The woman alerted the police, according to sources. Sushil has been brought to Kolkata during the day for questioning. The pro-Naxal M.Phil student of linguistics went missing from the main hostel of the JU at around 7.30 am on February 2 after he was accused by a female student of molesting her and posted her allegations on Facebook.
He, however, had left his cellphone in his room at the hostel which initially created a challenge to the police to track him. His friends were earlier questioned by the police. They had told the police that Sushil was depressed over the allegations against him. Following his disappearance, Sushil went to Kharagpur and spent two days there. Later, he went to his friend’s place in Belda, according to sources.
