36 schoolkids from Bangla meet gov
Kolkata: A team of 36 Bangladeshi schoolchildren led by Lieutenant Colonel Saidur Rahman of Border Guard Bangladesh along with two officers and two teaching staff reached Kolkata on a four-day visit to India.
During their first day of visit, the schoolchildren met governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at Raj Bhavan on Monday. Mr Tripathi addressed the children and informed them about the historical importance of the building.
He also discussed about the good relationship between the two countries and how the children can play an important role in maintaining the good relationship between the two countries in future.
Later the Bangladeshi schoolchildren presented a memento to the governor. In exchange a token of remembrance was also presented by the governor to the children.
In the next three days, the Bangladeshi school children will visit Kolkata including, historical places and will return to Bangladesh on March 1.
The visit is the outcome of the Director General Level Talks, held in New Delhi from October 2-7 last year when a decision was taken to have visit of shhool children of Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh between India and Bangladesh to each other’s country.
The visit of BSF school children to Bangladesh was conducted by BGB from January 8-11.
Now the visit of BGB schoolchildren to India is being conducted by BSF South Bengal Frontier.
