Two killed in road accident as scooty skids

Kolkata: A youth and a teenaged boy were killed in a road accident in south Kolkata late on Tuesday night when the scooty they were travelling in was skidded off the road beneath AJC Bose Road Flyover.

The two-wheeler’s speed clocked close to 100 km per hour. The deceased were Sahil Khan (20) and Ubaid Hussain (18). Both were residents of Narkeldanga North Road. No one of them was wearing helmet.

At around 11 pm Sahil and Ubaid were travelling in the scooty alongwith another boy. While Sahil was the rider, Ubaid and the second boy were the pillion riders.

The Moulali-bound two-wheeler, which was coming from Ekbalpore skid, near Minto Park, at a high speed amidst stagnant water on AJC Bose Road.

Sahil and Ubaid were thrown off their seat. With fatal injuries they were rushed to Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital where they were declared brought dead.

The two bodies were sent for post-mortem. The second pillion rider who however escaped unhurt miraculously fled with the scooty, according to the police. A case on rash driving charge has been intiated by the police.
