Woman says no to marriage, warned of acid attack

Kolkata: A woman from Haridevpur, South Kolkata, was threatened with acid attack by a youth whose proposal for marriage she had refused. She has lodged a complaint with the local police station.

The accused had forcibly entered her house and manhandled her when she refused to accept his proposal. He also rummaged things inside the house.

After the woman lodged the complaint with the polce, Debnath has been constanly been threatening to throw acid on her. The woman said that the police was yet to take action in spite of her complaint.

The police, however, refuted her claims and said it is working on the case. “We are looking for the accused,” a senior police officer said.
