Missing BJP worker found dead in forest
Kolkata: A teenage BJP worker, who had been missing since Tuesday night, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a forest in Balaramapur of Purulia which has seen signficant rise in the saffron party’s votebank in the recent panchayat elections.
Trilochon Mahato (18), the deceased, was found hanging from a tree at Supurdih village on Wednesday morning. A poster was also found on the ground. A line in Bengali — Aatharo Bochhor Boyose BJP Rajneeti (BJP politics at the age of 18) was written in it along with comments of warning to get associated with the BJP and threatening to take his life.
A cap and a purse were kept on the poster. The same line was found written by pen on the back of the victim’s T-Shirt after the police brought down the body. The body was sent for post-mortem. The police suspects that the teenager was murdered and then the body was hung from a tree to project that he committed suicide.
Superintendent of police (Purulia) Joy Biswas said that a probe has been underway. The teenaged boy went out of home to sell vegetables at a local market on Tuesday afternoon. He however did not return home.
Training guns on the ruling party over the teenager’s death BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha alleged that Trilochon was murdered by the Trinamool Congress workers.
At the state BJP headquarters he claimed, “The victim’s family members are the BJP supporters also. If chief minister Mamata Banerjee has the guts, she should order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the murder of our party worker.”
Rejecting the BJP’s allegation Trinamul district vice-president Rathin-dranath Mahato argued that it has become a habit of the BJP to put the blame on the ruling party for everything.
