CBI set to quiz Sovan Chatterjee on Wednesday

Since the Trinamul Congress minister was not home then, the CBI team served the notice to his office.

Kolkata: After the Enforcement Directorate (ED), now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee for questioning in Narada sting operation case. Mr Chatterjee has been asked to appear before the CBI’s anti-corruption branch at Nizam Palace on Wednesday morning. According to sources, a CBI team visited his residence last week to serve the summons to him.

Since the Trinamul Congress minister was not home then, the CBI team served the notice to his office. Sources claimed that he has been asked to bring his income-related details with him. The CBI wants to know from him when and where Narada CEO Mathew Samuel met him. Mr Chatterjee is one of the dozen Trinamul leaders, including parliamentarians, legislators and ministers, who have been booked by the CBI and ED separately in the cases.

On Monday, the CBI grilled state panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee in the same case.

Mr Chatterjee was questioned by the ED for nearly eight hours earlier this month in connection with its case on charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. His wife, Ratna Chatterjee, has also been summoned by the ED for her questioning after the Durga Puja.
