Police arrests Kolkata man for sexual harassment
Mumbai: The Oshiwara police arrested a 25-year-old man for mentally harassing a female eye specialist over the phone. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Avnit Kumar Singh. He has been booked under the Indian Penal Code for molestation and making vulgar calls, along with the relevant sections of the IT act.
Singh was produced in Andheri court on Friday, where he was released on the bail after producing a bail bond of Rs 10,000. Singh hails from Kolkata, said an Oshiwara police officer. According to police officers, Singh called the woman, who works in an eye clinic, on her cell phone earlier this month. He informed her that he had had seen her number written in the toilet of a Howrah train where she was referred to as a call girl.
Singh then went on to make calls to the doctor on a regular basis despite her introducing herself to him. “He forced her to have physical relations with him,” said a police officer.
