Mumbai: A sessions court in Dindoshi has rejected bail application filed by a man arrested for allegedly killing the husband of a lady, whom he used to like, by throwing acid.

The prosecution said that the acid was thrown from a window at around 2 am last year on the intervening night of November 28 and 29. The acid was thrown when the victims were sleeping in their house in Goregaon. All the three members of family — husband, wife and their 4-year-old minor son were injured in the incident.

Chandan Thakur Singh, his wife and minor son were rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. Later, Singh died on December 15, 2016, and the police registered FIR.

Before dying Singh had named Ashfaq and Sabira as suspects because he had a quarrel with them. However, during the investigation, the police found out that persons named in the FIR were innocent and arrested Sarfaraz Ansari (22).

The police claimed that it found burn marks caused by acid on Ansari’s hands and also came to know that he used to frequently call Singh’s wife. Due to Ansari’s behaviour, Singh had asked him not to visit his house in his absence.
