Ghatkopar Crash: Metal plate from plane injures 25-year-old local
Mumbai: A metal plate that had broken away from the ill-fated chartered plane that crashed in Ghatkopar on Thursday injured 25-year-old Prasad Mahakal's right leg when the youth had rushed to the site of the plane crash with his friends to see what had happened. Doctors at civic-run Rajawadi Hospital performed his surgery on Saturday.
Mr Mahakal, a resident of Maniklalal Nagar, Ghatkopar, was watching the tragedy unfold on TV. As he lived nearby and wanted to lend a helping hand to the injured, the youth decided to visit the spot.
However, Mr Mahakal didn’t realise that the plate had torn a tendon on his right ankle.
The youth was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital where he underwent surgery on Saturday.
The medical superintendent of Rajawadi Hospital, Dr Vidya Thakur said, “He had surgery today. He is out of danger. His wound was severe and needed urgent attention. Currently, he is recuperating and will be discharged in a week.”
Mr Mahakal’s younger brother, Pradeep, said, "He was helping someone when he got injured. He was going to start his first day at work today at a private company. But now he is in hospital.”
