OHE wire snaps, affects train services
Mumbai: An overhead wire (OHE) snapped on the Trans Harbour line between Thane and Airoli station on Saturday, bringing suburban services to a halt for close to two hours on the up line (Vashi to Thane).
A Central Railway (CR) official claimed that over a dozen services were cancelled and passengers were seen walking on the tracks. Services resumed at 1.20 pm.
“As the train services stopped between Airoli and Thane I had to walk on the tracks to reach Thane station,” said Atul, a commuter.
A CR officer said, “We have allowed the passengers to travel via Kurla for Thane.”
Anil Kumar Jain, public relation officer of CR said, “The OHE wire snapped at 12.20 pm leading to disruption of services on Trans Harbour line. Thirteen services were cancelled. The OHE was connected at 1.41 pm and the subsequently the services were resumed.”
Meanwhile, an engine of goods train failed on Friday between Amber-nath and Badlapur station. The goods train stopped on the up line. Due to this incident, suburban services were delayed for more than 20 minutes.
