Mumbai University misses deadline, says results by August 5

Mumbai: The Mumbai University on Monday missed the deadline given by its chancellor, the state Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, to declare ‘all’ the results of the final year degree college students by July 31. By Monday evening, it had declared the results of only 171 out of the 477 examinations held in the months of April and May. Students of more than 300 other courses are still awaiting their results.

The University has now set a new goal of declaring the pending results by August 5. The state education minister, Vinod Tawde, who has been trying to fix the delay by coordinating between Mr Rao and Sanjay Deshmukh, the vice-chancellor of the university, said, “I don’t know anything about the results!”

One of the greatest challenges for the university is to declare the results of the departments like law and commerce as only 10 per cent assessment is completed for these departments, according to sources. Apart from these departments, the department of science, technology, management and arts have around 300 answer sheets in each section that are remaining to be assessed. Of the 171 courses for which results have been declared, a majority of courses do not have more than 200 students enrolled for them.

Another trouble the students are facing is the display of ‘Error: The requested URL could not be retrieved’ as the Mumbai University’s server is unable to take the load of the students logging in to check their results, according to university officials.
