With acronyms varisty bring chaos for final year students
‘A’ or ‘RR’ doesn’t mean that you have flunked, don’t worry. ‘F’ means fail.
Mumbai: In what is creating confusion among Mumbai university (MU) final-year students whose results are yet to be declared, the university website shows their status as “A” or absent and “RR or result reserved without clearly informing them that their results are awaited. The university notification that will inform these students about the status of their results will mostly reach all city-based colleges by the end of this week.
A university source said, “In every college, there are at least 20 to 25 students whose results on the MU website bear the acronyms RR and A. Unaware of their meaning, the students suspect that they have flunked the exam.”
Clearing the air, controller of examination (CoE) Arjun Ghatule said, “If the student’s result shows ‘A’, it means it has been withheld or reserved. However, if the result shows ‘F’, it means the student has failed. RR or A do not mean anything scary so students just need to be patient as we will declare all the reserved results very soon.” Meanwhile, some students’ results are even showing RR2 which means that they have not cleared their lower examination.
Mithibai College has 70 such cases; St. Andrews has 38 for Bachelor of Arts, Government Law College has 80, and Sophia College and K.C. College too have similar cases. Reportedly, all reserved results will be declared in the next 10 days by the varsity.
