Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) is formulating a new software in order to digitise its land records. The housing authority will subsequently conduct mapping of all kind of plots owned by it and then the data will be put up on its website with its current status. The process for the same has already commenced and it will take a year to complete the project, a source revealed.

“The software named as ‘Land Management Record’ is in its final stages and the details of the lands have been fed already. Now in the next stage, the GIS mapping will be done on all such plots under our ownership. The mapping will ensure that details like lease period, legal cases, the housing project on it, under construction projects on the land etc will be recorded,” said a senior Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority official.

He further added, “The details will be uploaded online on Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s portal and the citizens can access it with just a click. Suppose if any person requires details of a plot in Andheri, then she/he can just enter the plot number and get all the details and present status of the land.”

Meanwhile, the lottery for the current year will be held post-Diwali with around 1,385 houses for which the advertisement will be released next week. The lottery will be held within 40 days after the advertisement is published.
