People who approach police should be trustful: Devendra Fadnavis

The CM further said that the use of information technology by police would help secure speedy justice for citizens.

Mumbai: The chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that the state is taking various steps to develop trust in the minds of people who approach the police to get justice and also to help women and children who are victims of crimes. According to the chief minister, one of these steps is the setting up of ‘Bharosa Cells’ in all districts to provide assistance to women and children victims.

Mr Fadnavis, while inaugurating of Bharosa Cell of Nagpur police on Sunday said, “The formation of the Bharosa Cell is the need of the hour to address the problems of the victims (women and children). Such a cell would provide all assistance including psychiatric help and legal advice to them.” Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Nagpur guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule were also present for the function.

“The nature of crime and violence in the society is changing due to increasing use of information technology by criminals. There is a need for fear of law. In this changing scenario, the police department should also use IT in its working,” he added.

The chief minister further said that the use of information technology by the police would help secure speedy justice for citizens and it would build confidence in the minds of the public towards the police force.
