CBI submits evidence in Sheena Bora murder case

The co-accused and Indrani's former driver Shyamwar Rai has turned approver in the case and he would be questioned as a witness.

Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday submitted the list of documents and evidence in the Sheena Bora murder case to the trial court. The court has asked the accused Indrani Mukerjea, her husband Peter Mukerjea and former husband Sanjeev Khanna to file their reply by Saturday. After the accused file the reply, the court will fix a date for recording of witnesses’ statements.

CBI counsel Bharat Badami provided list of documents to special judge H.S. Mahajan, including DNA test reports, to prove that the body found in jungle of Raigad district was Sheena Bora’s. Apart from DNA report other evidence such as messages, e-mails exchanged between accused and witnesses and forged resignation letter of Sheena, were also submitted to the trial court.

The co-accused and Indrani’s former driver Shyamwar Rai has turned approver in the case and he would be questioned as a witness. He has given his statement under section 164 of CrPC, which means his statement could be used as evidence against rest of the accused. According to the prosecution, Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012, but the crime came to light after the arrest of Rai in another case in August 2015.
