Mr Mehta had directed the assistant commissioners of 24 wards to present the annual plan of various works proposed in the budget.

Mumbai: BMC chief Ajoy Mehta asked assistant commissioners to ensure proper desilting works in the nullahs in their respective areas. Desilting of major nullahs began on Saturday, whereas those of minor ones will begin from April 7.

“To ensure proper desilting works before monsoon, the civic body has decided to display pictures of ‘before and after’ cleaning at city nullahs. We will also display awareness boards ” said the official.

For smooth implementation of the annual budget, Mr Mehta also asked civic officials to present a time-bound action plan of the civic development works proposed by them for the year 2017-18.

Mr Mehta had directed the assistant commissioners of 24 wards to present the annual plan of various works proposed in the budget. Accordingly, all ward officers made a presentation before him in the monthly review meeting held at civic headquarters on Saturday.

The presentations included various issues like beautification of gardens, traffic islands and central dividers; restoration of cemeteries, dispensaries, health posts, maternity homes, old municipal buildings; improvement of lakes and prominent areas; widening of nullahs and removal of bottlenecks; laying of sewer line network in non-sewer areas; construction and repairs of public and community toilets and other works.
