Haseena Parkar's flat auctioned for Rs 1.80 crore
Mumbai: The Smuggling and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act (SAFEMA) auctioned another property of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim on Monday.
The auctioned property is a residential apartment where, his sister, Haseena Parkar used to stay. The reserve price of the flat was Rs1.69 crore and it was auctioned for Rs1.80 crore.
The property that went under the hammer was Dawood's alleged benami property where his sister stayed and passed away. The residence was located at Gordon House tower in Nagpada. The officials said that the property was auctioned along with five other properties by SAFEMA, which were seized in separate cases.
The sale price of the property exceeded the reserve price, officials said. 20 customers attended the auction and it started around 10 am and concluded later on the same day.
In the past similar auctioning processes of the gangster, the government had to re-auction his properties that could not be successfully auctioned in 2015 included his ‘Pakmodia Street’ residence.
Other properties that were put up for auctioning included a two-storied building 'Shabnam Guest House' at Yakub Street in Bhendi Bazar, Hotel Raunak Afroz located on Pakmodia Street along with his childhood residence at Damarwala building on Pakmodia Street.
The three other properties, which figure in the advertisement, include a flat in Pearl Harbour CHS at Mazgaon, 600 square meter plot at Paithan in Aurangabad and tenancy rights of a room at Dadriwala Chawl at Maulana Shaukat Ali road.
In 2015, Hotel Rounak Afroz had gone under the hammer for Rs 4.28crore, however, the bidder could not arrange the requisite amount. An old car was also auctioned for Rs 32,000, which was later set ablaze and disposed off. The auction was held as per the provisions of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Properties) Act, 1976.
