Mumbai: A ‘Shramdaan’ event regarding water conservation was organised on Tuesday across various parts of Maharashtra by Aamir Khan’s Paani Foundation. It kickstarted on the occasion of ‘Maharashtra Day.’

The actor was leading a team of about 1.3 lakh volunteers for the event which was held across 75 talukas and 24 districts in the state.

Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt too joined the team for the proceedings in Latur, Maharashtra.

The actress had tweeted, “Tomorrow that is the 1st of May.. I will be at a village in Marathwada, doing shramadaan with a shovel in my hands. What's your plan?” Ms Bhatt was seen taking the shovel and digging the marked spot to contribute towards watershedmanagement work. The volunteers were allotted different villages across Maharashtra where they worked for three hours.
