A fight ensued before Khar PI's son stabbed his mother
Mumbai: The Vakola police, which is probing last week’s murder of Khar police inspector Dyaneshwar Ganore’s wife, Dipali, by their son Siddhant (21), revealed that on the day of the incident, the accused allegedly had a fight with his mother when she refused to let his father buy him an expensive gift.
According to police sources, Dyaneshwar had allegedly kept Rs 2 lakh in cash in the cupboard and when Siddhant came to know about it, he insisted on buying something. Dyaneshwar allegedly agreed to Siddhant’s demand but Dipali objected to the same following which, the couple as well as Siddhant and his mother had a fight which
eventually led to the murder. The police is ascertaining the origin of the cash.
A source said, “Siddhant’s father had kept Rs 2 lakh in the cupboard and we suspect the accused knew about it. Siddhant asked his father to buy him something expensive to which the latter agreed.” However, this did not go down well with Dipali and she had a fight with Dyaneshwar over it. “It led to a fight between Siddhant’s parents where his mother felt that he should not be given anything as his academic performance was weak.”
The source said that the parents constantly fought over how to handle Siddhant. “The accused was not doing well in his studies. He had dropped out of college and even after entering a new college, was not attending it regularly. While the mother was strict and would constantly scold him, the father on the other hand was very lenient and would give in to all his demands,” said the source.
On May 24, Siddhant stabbed his mother nine times and fled the scene. Having dropped out of engineering college, Siddhant, had enrolled for a Bachelor of Science degree at National College. He wasn’t faring well academically which led to Dipali constantly admonishing him with constant fights between mother and son.
The police is also investigating where the said money came from. “We don’t know why Dyaneshwar brought such a huge amount of money home. We will be probing where he got it and why he decided to keep it at home,” the source said.
