Locals fume after BMC shuts down Mulund pool

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shut down the swimming pool at Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Mulund West, following complaints by swimmers. Local residents and members complained that the poor quality of pool water caused physical ailments and skin rashes. The civic body put up a notice saying that the swimming pool would remain closed from May 31 to June 15 due to damages in its filtration plant.

The BMC and Lalit Kala Pratishthan, whose managing trustee is Shiv Sena leader actor Adesh Bandekar, manage the swimming pool. It has over 4000 members.
