FYJC merit list to release on July 4 NOW

Private colleges conduct the minority quota FYJC admissions without any interference from the state education department.

Mumbai: The release of the general merit list for First Year Junior College (FYJC) students in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), has been rescheduled to July 4. The state took this decision as admissions to the quota seats are still underway. A total of 2.51 lakh students have registered for FYJC admissions this year, using the option form. 1, 2.36 lakh completed the option form II, while 2.35 lakh verified their documents, according to the data provided by MMR Education Department.

Private colleges conduct the minority quota FYJC admissions without any interference from the state education department. Each junior college decides how to fill the 50 per cent seats reserved for minority students and if seats are vacant, they need to surrender them to the education department.

A ‘zero round’ will be conducted for online admissions to the Higher Secondary Vocational Course (HSVC) and quota seats – religious or linguistic minority, in-house and management. If seats remain vacant, they will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

B.B. Chavan, deputy director, school education, said, “Quota Admission for F.Y.J.C colleges is underway. If students fail to get admission in quota then they can apply for open, for which they have to fill up the form again. But we will see to it that the students are accommodated.”
