Mumbai: In a shocking incident wherein the hair of 30 students was forcibly chopped off as punishment for not following the dress code prescribed by a private school in Mumbai, three staff members of the school, including a teacher and son of a director, have been arrested for the same on Saturday.

According to Vikroli police officials, the accused are identified as director of Kamal Vasudev Vaykule School, Ganesh Bata (40), PT teacher Milind Ianke (33), and peon Tushar Gore (32). The accused, said the police, meant to teach the students a lesson.

Senior police inspector of Vikhroli police, Shridhar Hanchate said, “The incident occurred at the Kamal Vasudev Vaykule School on Friday after the morning prayers when Bata asked 30 children from Class V-VIII, who hadn’t cut their hair as per school uniform, to stand up. The director then called Gore and Ianke and held every student to cut their hair.” The parents came to know about the incident in the evening after students left from the school. Following this, the parents went to the police station to lodge a complaint. Two boys also suffered minor injuries due to the scissor used for the mass hair cut session.
