Sanjay Nirupam files police case against Ajoy Mehta
Mumbai: Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam on Wednesday submitted an application to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) zone one, Abhishek Trimukhe, demanding inclusion of the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta’s name in a case of cheating.
The said case was registered by BMC officials against two unknown persons in connection with the encroachment of a 13,000 square metre plot worth '500 crore located in Jogeshwari.
Mr Nirupam in his application demanded that Mr Mehta be named as an accused as he was directly responsible for the loss of the land parcel.
Mr Nirupam claimed that the land was under acquisition from private owners and had been preserved for a hospital and housing for the homeless under the development plan (DP).
“The DP department headed by the commissioner deliberately failed to take over the land within the stipulated time, and he did not even respond to the notices sent by the owners giving them legal advantage,” stated Mr Nirupam’s application.
Mr Nirupam alleged payout and collusion between the private owners and the commissioner and demanded that the name of the commissioner and other officials be added in the case.
