Many a time, ticket checkers (TC) do not come to the coaches to check tickets.
Mumbai: After the pilot project of pasting reservation charts on reserved coaches of tra-ins at all A1, A and B category stations was discontinued for six months, the Railways has decided to completely do away with the charting system at all the stations and coaches of express trains from Satu-rday. Railway activists ha-ve opposed the decision, saying that it would create more problems between confirmed ticket holders and waiting-list ticket hol-ders as the former would claim seats in the absence of reservation charts at the station. Many a time, ticket checkers (TC) do not come to the coaches to check tickets. In such cases, waiting list ticket holders grab seats. Subhash Gupta, pre-sident, Rail Yatri Parishad, said the organisation has been against this decision from day one and Railways is implementing it arbitrarily.
Mr Gupta said, “I will meet railway minister Piyush Goyal and give him a letter regarding this arbitrary decision. In the summer season, there is no pla-ce to stand in the coaches of several northbound trains including Godan and Mahanagari Express.”
CR CPRO Sunil Udasi said, “Physical/digital charts will continue to be displayed on the platforms of trains. At those locations where electronic chart display has been installed and the same are functioning properly, display of physical reservation charts at such platforms will be stopped, making this proc-ess totally paperless. These locations will be monitored constantly to ensure that such electronic charts displays are functioning properly, and action will be taken to display charts in case of non-functioning of electronic chart display.”
