NCP kicks off poll campaign from Beed district
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) kicked-off its Lok Sabha campaign from Beed, Aurangabad, on Monday. While addressing the mega rally, NCP chief Sharad Pawar gave a call for the defeat of the BJP at the Centre and in the state. He said that the anti-people government had damaged the economy, agriculture and social harmony like never before. It had failed on all fronts and the failures had worsened the problems of the country.
“People kept the faith in Mr Modi’s campaign and voted him to power. But farmers are now facing the worst problems since independence. The rates for their produce are as they were. This government announced a loan waiver. But how many farmers got it? So, this government needs to be changed now,” he said.
Raising the issue of inflation, he said, “Petrol has crossed '90. Diesel has crossed '80. Now, the price of cooking gas, too, has increased. This has brought inflation. On the other hand, people’s income is not increasing.”
NCP state chief Jayant Patil said that the BJP-led state government and the Sena had looted and cheated the people. “They keep lying about everything. Be it the farmers’ loan waiver or the Jalyukta Shivar or anything else. The chief minister said that employment had increased in the state. Do you believe this? Have you seen a person who got a good permanent job in the last four years?” Mr Patil questioned.
