Police question Mojo Bistro's co-owner

Yug Pathak, son of a retired IPS officer K.K. Pathak, who is also the co-owner of Mojo's Bistro, was called in for questioning.

Mumbai: The NM Joshi police questioned Yug Pathak, a co-owner of Mojo’s Bistro, in connection with the fire that gutted two pubs at Lower Parel’s Kamala Mills compound on Friday. The police had also questioned the Kamala Mills owner Ramesh Govani on Monday, after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had registered a complaint against him for allegedly permitting illegal extensions.

Yug Pathak, son of a retired IPS officer K.K. Pathak, who is also the co-owner of Mojo’s Bistro, was called in for questioning. S. Jayakumar, an additional commissioner of police (Central Region), said, “As a part of the probe, the NM Joshi police has questioned the concerned person. The investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken against the accused persons.”

In a statement released by Mojo’s Bistro, Pathak had said, “I drove to Kamala mills, and on reaching there I met my staff and was not allowed to go near the building as it was completely sealed off the authorities for the rescue ops. I reconfirmed with my staff if all the Guests and Staff were evacuated, to which they assured me that it had been done and one of my managers Manoj had gone in with the firefighters to 1 Above to help out with the guests trapped inside.”

In the statement, Pathak also said that he left the Kamala mills at 2.30 am on Friday and asked managers to stay back and cooperate with the authorities. He also claimed that his team then stayed at Kamala mills with the authorities till 5 am, after which they were called to the police station to file their statements.
