2 sent to cop custody for raping woman
Mumbai: A magistrate court in Kurla has remanded two persons aged between 39 and 48 years in police custody in connection with the gang rape of a woman. According to the complaint, the accused first overpowered her, forced MD drugs into her mouth, and then raped her.
The Kurla police had informed the magistrate that on December 31, 2018, a 30-year-old housewife came to the police station and registered a complaint against three persons that they forcibly pushed drugs into her mouth and raped her. Following the complaint, the police arrested one Mukhtar Shaikh (39) and Shahid Khan alias Pappu (48) who lives in the victim’s neighbourhood.
Lawyers from M.J. Associates and advocate R.C. Mishra appeared for the accused and opposed the plea made by the police. They argued that the accused should be remanded to judicial custody but the Judge remanded them to police custody till January 4.
According to the complaint, at around 2.30am on December 30, the victim needed to answer nature’s call which is why stepped outside her house and towards the common water closet. While climbing down the stairs however, Munna, who was already standing there with two of his friends, allegedly grabbed her by her shoulder and pulled her towards him. He then closed her mouth with his hands and with the help of Pappu and one Jamal, carried her to a tin shed near the bay.
According to the complaint, Munna forced her to consume some white powder in the tin shed, after which, she felt dizzy. At that point, the accused allegedly raped her.
The police demanded custody of the arrested accused and to probe the matter.
