UTS mobile app to be linked with Paytm and Mobikwik
Mumbai: In a move to make mobile ticketing easier, the UTS mobile ticket application will now be linked with Paytm and Mobikwik. Until now commuters had to recharge the R-wallet via Internet banking, but many did not have the know how and had to queue up at stations to recharge it.
The news comes at a time when the railways have also announced that any service charges taken for booking tickets via Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Central Railway (CR) chief public relations officer (CPRO) Narendra Patil said, “Until now commuters who did not know how to recharge the R-wallet had to go to the counter and recharge. So, many a time commuters used to feel that if they had to queue up at the counter they might as well take their passes or tickets there.”
The UTS application was a flop when it was launched initially in December 2015. Until now around 4,308 tickets and season passes were booked in January. The total number of the registered users in February has gone up to 3,26,000 commuters. The application has now provided the option of physically printing out tickets and passes from January 25, as commuters felt that it was essential for half-yearly and yearly passes that are of more value, in case their mobile phones do not work.
