Uddhav Thackeray begins poll campaign in Palghar
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray Tuesday started his campaign in Palghar, where he appealed to people to defeat the “gundaraj” in the region. Though he did not take any names, Mr Thackeray was referring to Opposition leader Hitendra Thakur, who is often accused of using high-handedness in the area.
The Sena chief kicked off his campaign at Naigaon in Vasai. The Shiv Sena had embarked on a road show from Naigoan Naka. Mr Thackeray visited social and religious places. He also went to the Gurudwara and later, had a dialogue with the Sikh community whom he had appealed to cast their votes in favour of the Yuti’s candidate.
Appealing to the people, Mr Thackeray directed party workers to observe the yuti dharma and mahayutidharma and break the previous record of voting and extern “gundagiri” from Vasai-Virar. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and other alliance partners had participated in the poll wholeheartedly.
The Sena chief claimed that the party would get more votes (seats) in the election in comparison with the previous election.
Slamming the Congress party’s manifesto, Mr Thackeray said that before coming up with the manifesto, the Congress party was in power; it should see what it had done.
