Harassed constable seeks permission to end life

Mumbai: Sunil Toke, a constable attached to the Worli local arms division, has written a letter to the President of India seeking permission to end his life. He has written about facing continuous harassment from seniors in the department to the extent that they have been trying to restrict his salary.
Mr Toke told The Asian Age that in April, he was suffering from diabetes, blood pressure, kidney disease and prostate bleeding. He said that he had undergone a heart surgery a few years ago.He alleged that in April, he went on leave for 15 days to carry out medical tests and treat his kidney disease but senior police inspector of Worli police station, Praful Phadke, constantly harassed him.
He claimed that Phadke used to send letters asking for confirmation on his disease. He warned him against complaining about senior IPS officers.
“I have written to the DCP, ACP and the Mumbai police commissioner but nobody takes cognisance of my grievances which is why I have no option but to die,” he said.
