Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) on Sunday announced the second phase of the lottery for mill workers' houses.

The lottery procedure will start by the end of July for 3,800 homes. There will be another lottery for 2,000 to 2,500 houses for the Konkan region from the Konkan board.

Mhada president Uday Samant on Sunday announced the second phase of the lottery for Mumbai mill workers.

While announcing the lottery, Mr Samant said, “Now homes are available on the Bombay Dyeing and Shreeniwas Mill land which is an important phase of the Mumbai mill workers’ lottery.” 485 homes at Shreeniwas Mill land and 3,385 homes on Bombay Dyeing mill land are available.

The homes available for the Konkan region will be from Thane city and according to the officials it will be at the prime location of the city. The application procedure for the lottery will start at the end of July.

To find out housing stock, Mr Samant has asked Mhada officials to conduct a survey of housing stock under 33 (5) homes. He also asked them to complete the survey within a week.

“This will help to know the number of homes available for the next Mumbai lottery,” said Mr Samant. After that, the survey announcement will be made for the Mumbai lottery before the upcoming Assembly election.
