Nanar body to campaign against BJP
Mumbai: The Nanar Prakalp Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti (the Anti Project People’s Committee), which is opposing the Nanar green refinery project in Ratnagiri, has decided to campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the next polls to be held in the state, with the Rajapur municipal council elections being the first such polls.
The chairman of the committee, Mr Ashok Walam has declared that the members of the committee will go everywhere in the state to appeal to the people against voting for the BJP.
The committee has also decided to join hands with all other farmers’ protests in the state and raise a bigger agitation.
Issuing a statement on Monday, Mr Walam said, “Our organisation has decided to actively campaign against the BJP in coming municipal council polls of Rajapur. We will go to the people and appeal to them to refrain from voting for the BJP. We have also decided that our committee members will go to the all those places where elections are due and appeal to the people to vote against BJP.”
Spelling out the reason behind the decision, he said, “The BJP has decided to sell Konkan to the sheikhs of Dubai and Saudi Arabia. They are trying to give 16 thousand acre of land to these sheikhs.
